If you’ve ever wondered why your life is the way that it is or why things have transpired the way that they have I have one short answer for you, it’s your mindset. Your mindset is how you choose to approach and interpret any situation in life. When you have a positive and open mindset, you’re able to see the possibilities in any situation. When you have a closed or negative mindset, you are limiting yourself in life and possibly self sabotaging. The moment you decide to actively shift your mindset, I promise you that so many wonderful things will start happening in your life!
Here are 5 mindset shifts that will change your life for the better :
1. Grow through what you go through
So often in life we fall victim to our circumstances and look for something or someone to blame. Instead of taking this approach, take a minute and ask yourself, “what is this teaching me and how can I apply this lesson in my life to help me grow into a better person?” I’m a firm believer in everything happening in life with purpose, nothing happens by chance. With me having this belief, whenever something less than desirable happens in my life I’m able to take a minute, reflect on the situation and pull something from it and grow. The next time something doesn’t go the way you want it (because that’s life) take a minute, accept what’s happening and do a mindset shift. Watch how resilient you become!
2. Focus on the positive instead of the negative
This one is a powerful one, indeed. It’s so easy for us to say what we “lack” in life but do you notice how challenging it is for us to say what we DO have. Our brains are wired for negativity so this one is going to take some work, but it’s possible! We have to retrain our brain, making it look for positives in the same way it looks for negatives. We can do this in a few ways listed below:
- Give positive feedback every day (this could be something so simple as telling someone you appreciate something they did to help you)
- Learn how to pivot ( challenge a negative thought with 2 positive ones)
- Pay it forward (perform a small act of kindness that will help someone)
- Release your inner negativity (center your thoughts on things that make you happy and do a mental release of negative ones)
3. Positive self talk
Do you listen to how you talk to yourself on a daily basis? If you could play all your thoughts out loud in front of everyone, would you cringe? If so, you really should change the way you talk to yourself. You wouldn’t let anyone call you lazy and stupid so why in the world would you say it to yourself? It’s very important for us to be kind and gentle to ourselves. This plays a major role in our self confidence and that determines our actions in life among so many other things. Remember : “You live the words you tell yourself in your mind.”
4. Empower yourself
Empowering yourself means taking control of your life. True personal empowerment requires you to set meaningful goals to identify what you want from life, and then take massive action to achieve those goals! When you are empowered you don’t allow others to dictate your life or give them power over you. You are self assured and know what it takes to make great things happen in your life and you’re not afraid to go after that. In order to do so, you must develop self awareness. Self awareness just means knowing who you are along with your strengths and weakness in life. Once you’ve embarked on your journey to self empowerment you will be come unstoppable!
5. Be mindful about what you focus on
Have you ever heard the saying, “where focus goes, energy flows”. This just means whatever you choose to give your full attention to will essentially expand. If you focus on becoming a more positive individual and put in work on learning different ways of being positive, then sooner or later you will radiate positivity! It’s inevitable. The same is for the opposite. We have the tools and power to create the type of life we want and it all starts in our mind. That’s something no one can ever take away from us.
